Cafco WB3 is a water-based intumescent coating made of polyvinyl acetate resins and fillers for the fire protection of structural steel. It is preferably applied as a spray with airless paint equipment for speed and quality of finish. It can also be applied with the help of a brush or a roller. It can be sealed with a decorative top coat. In case of a fire, a chemical reaction takes place causing the Cafco WB3 to expand and form an insulating layer which slows the rising of the temperature of the steel to a critical level. Provides fire resistance for up to 120 minutes in accordance with BS 476: Part 21 and up to 180 minutes in accordance with ASTM E119, NFPA 251, AS 1530: Part 4 and AS 4100. It is durable and has a decorative finish and steelwork may also be left exposed to view. It is resistant to chemical and abuse and can be top coated to match the surroundings. It is very easy to apply and cleans up easily with water. The drying time is also very fast. It also can be applied to structural steel columns and beam coatings.
