Swiss deeptech company, Hydromea SA is one of the leading AUV manufacturers founded in December 2014. Hydromea SA is a deeptech start-up from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland, with the goal to bring the latest advanced technology from microengineering and robotics to the environmental water quality market. The Hydromea technology is the result of over 10 years of experience gained through research of the founders in underwater communication, localization, propulsion and distributed systems. By leveraging automation, data management and multi-robot systems with AI, Hydromea aims to provide high-resolution in-situ data (which to date cannot be obtained by other means), cost-effectively and fast.

Hydromea’s VERTEX AUV is a robust underwater drone, engineered for mass-production at low prices. The AUV is small in size and lighter in weight to allow easy deployment in large numbers. The specialized AUV comes equipped with a number of novel communication and localization technology.
A compact modem, LUMA 250LP empowers quick underwater communication that can go up to 250 kbit/sec, down to 6000 m depth. LUMA 250LP’s one of the main USPs comes in the form of very low stand-by power consumption, which makes it a preferable choice for long-term deployments along with battery-powered instruments.
One of the unique offerings of Hydromea is the Disk-Drive Thruster. With a very compact structure, the Disk-Drive Thruster is a powerful rim-driven brushless thruster. Hydromea’s patented design for the thruster is pressure-proof, hydro-lubricated and oil free. The thruster also features a hubless propeller that prevents it from getting tangled.
Hydromea’s Mini-FT7 is a compact size self-contained fast temperature logger/sensor that enables easy integration into existing multi-parameter sondes, small AUVs, ROVs and gliders. The Mini-FT7 combines the FP07 sensor with a high-resolution signal converter and logger to form a powerful package.
